Start Birth Control with Late Period?

Monday, February 23, 2015

Question

I am supposed to start my new package of birth control today but I have not started my period yet (even after taking all 4 placebo pills). I have only had sex one time since my last period and I used a condom, so I am almost positive that I'm not pregnant. Last month I had to wait a couple days to renew my prescription and I didn't start my period until the second day that I was supposed to be taking my pills. Could it be that since I was late last month that my cycle is just a little behind or should that not matter as long as I’m taking my pills normally? Should I take my pill like normal today or should I wait a couple days to see if I start my period like last month?

Foot Pain

Thursday, February 19, 2015

Question

Last week I had noticed while running on a treadmill that my right foot started to hurt, but would stop after I would quit running. I then ran again a few days after and it has been hurting consistently whenever I put pressure on my foot. The pain hurts worst on the top outside part of my foot near my metatarsal/ankle bone region (almost like the cuboid bone), but also hurts a little by the front of my heel and above my ankle bone. I haven't run on it since and have been icing it and putting as little pressure on it as possible. What could be causing this pain, and is there anything else I should do?

Long Period After Starting Birth Control

Tuesday, February 17, 2015

Question

I just started Ortho-Cyclen (Sprintec) this month and was instructed to begin the pack the first day of my period. My period was a little late, but I ended up getting it. I started the pack and usually my cycle lasts about 5 days. I have had it for ten now. After my typical five days, it was brown and now it’s red again but it's light. Is this a typical response to the hormones in birth control? When will the bleeding stop?

Routine Periods

Monday, February 16, 2015

Question

Is it normal to start your period only 19 days into your cycle? My period almost always comes later than every 28 days, but it is typically unpredictable. I'm not sexually active or using any type of birth control. The only medication I'm taking is for an underactive thyroid.
