Question

Often I can feel my pulse in my stomach. It has been that way for years. Originally I noticed it when I was thin enough that the common explanation (that you can feel it because you’re thin) would have made sense. But I can still feel it now even though I’m close to an overweight BMI. I felt it beat harder along with my heart when I exercise. What’s going on?

I am a regular exerciser and eat a well-rounded vegetarian diet but I have been experiencing unintended weight gain and have ceased to have a period even while on birth control. I started birth control because I didn’t have a period by myself and ceased menstruating for over a year before starting birth control. I’m wondering what the cause of my weight gain might be- if it could be due to hormone imbalances or something else?
