Hi, I was looking into starting the pill to help regulate my periods and acne. If I were to start it would I have to have a pelvic exam?

Is it possible to go on birth control pill in order to manage PMS cramps and the duration of your period, even if you are not sexually active? If so, is it possible to get a prescription without having to go through with pelvic exams, pap smears, etc. at Student Health & Wellness?

I am an 18 year old enrolled at the University of Iowa. I am interested in getting a prescription for birth control pills, yet my parents do not support my use of the contraceptives. If I were to get a prescription, and my insurance plan is through my family, will it notify them of the prescription? Or is there a confidential way this can be done?

I had been diagnosed for ADD in 2003 and had taken medication from 2003 until 2005 to help with the symptoms and stopped because I did not like the medication and how it made me feel. I have recently been having greater difficulty concentrating and performing in my classes since my acceptance to the university in the fall of 09 and was wondering if I would be able to start a prescription again or if I would need to be re-evaluated.
