I think I have developed lactose intolerance but I’m not sure. Should I get tested to find out for sure?

I feel like I have an unhealthy consciousness of calories. I used to be considered obese, but have lost 50 lbs. in the last 6 or so months and my calorie intake has been strict. I work out five days a week, and typically eat between 1200-1500 calories (more if I work out, less if I do not). But, since I have been to college I can no longer accurately tally my food intake and I believe it has led to severe restricting. As a vegetarian, I really can only healthily eat pasta, cereals, veggies, and fruits in the dining hall. I try to add cottage cheese in for protein and take protein shakes if I work out, but I think I’m going overboard. I have lost 9 lbs. in the past five weeks, which is a higher amount than is typical for me, though I am still considered overweight. How do I help myself from thinking about calories nonstop because it is beginning to be all I think about and I talk about it a lot now as well.

I am a participant in a research study at the UIHC and when the study started they said I would be informed of any clinically-relevant abnormal blood tests. Today I received a letter stating that I have a Vitamin D Deficiency. The tests found that I have 17 ng/ml of blood. Is this something serious enough that needs to be checked out right away, or can I wait until I get back to campus this fall? I spend a fair amount of time outside eat a reasonably balanced diet so a Vitamin D Deficiency seems strange to me. Could this be a sign of something else going on?
