To schedule an appointment at Student Health & Wellness, please call 319-335-8394.
Routine appointments at Student Health & Wellness are scheduled for anywhere from 15 minutes to 1 hour in length depending on the patient's 'concern' (illness, injury, etc. - what you describe to the scheduling staff when you call). Your description helps the scheduling staff determine the most appropriate type and length of appointment to give you. However, even with your best description and our best guess in terms of scheduling, times can vary. We try to do our best at Student Health & Wellness to run on time and get you in and out as quickly as possible, while providing good medical care.
Charges for missed appointments. When students make appointments and then don’t show up or call in advance, it reduces appointment availability for other students. That is why we ask you to please carefully check your schedule, plan ahead, and call us as soon as you know an appointment won’t work for you.
Our charges for missed appointments are based on the length of your scheduled appointment. Appointments that are scheduled for less than 30 minutes will have a $10 no-show fee. Appointments that are 30 minutes or longer, will have a $25 no-show fee. For our psychiatry area that is often booked far in advance and in high demand, we ask that you call 24 hours in advance to avoid this charge. For all other areas in the clinic, please call and leave us a message before 8 AM on the day of the appointment to avoid being charged.
Some good tips to keep in mind while scheduling appointments:
- Arrive early. Arrive for your appointment 20 minutes early to be sure you can get checked in and fill out any required paperwork before your scheduled appointment.
- Be as clear and specific as you can when you call scheduling - the more specific you can be about your concerns, the better.
- Please do not schedule an appointment within an hour of another class or engagement, because appointments may take longer than expected.
