Every year the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) strongly recommends a flu vaccine as we head into the influenza season. Our state health department is reporting an uptick in the number of influenza cases in college-aged individuals. We had an increase in the number of flu diagnoses here at Student Health last week.

Get a flu shot now. It takes 14 days for full immunity to develop from a flu vaccine, and you will want to be protected when you travel home or elsewhere. Consider a COVID-19 vaccine if you have not been vaccinated yet- the two vaccines can be given at the same visit.

Flu vaccines at Student Health

Student Health has flu shots available at the IMU and the main Westlawn clinic. The cost is $62, which is usually covered by your insurance (check with your insurance provider to be sure). The cost can also be charged to your U-bill.

Students can walk in to the IMU Nurse Care Clinic in G-103 IMU (lower level by Java House) without an appointment to get their flu vaccination. Hours are 8:30 AM to 5 PM Monday through Thursday, and 9:30 AM to 5 PM on Friday. The clinic is closed from 1-1:30 PM daily.
