Appointments & Info
Schedule online or call 319-335-8394 to make an appointment
Appointments are available in the Westlawn building (map). We are an appointment-based clinic at Westlawn. Usually we also operate the IMU Nurse Care clinic in the lower level of the IMU, where students can be seen for immunizations without an appointment, but that site is closed for the start of the fall semester. We may reopen as the semester goes on. Routine appointments at Student Health are scheduled for anywhere from 15 minutes to 1 hour in length depending on your concern or need (illness, injury, etc. - what you describe to the scheduling staff when you call). Your description helps the scheduling staff determine the most appropriate type and length of appointment to give you. However, even with your best description and our best guess in terms of scheduling, times can vary. We try to do our best at Student Health to run on time and get you in and out as quickly as possible, while providing high quality medical care. Telehealth (video and phone visits) are also available. Be sure to check the tab on our home page, "Before your Visit" for tips to make your appointment go smoothly.
Charges for missed appointments. There is a $15 charge for missed appointments.
When students make appointments and then don’t show up or call in advance, it reduces appointment availability for other students. That is why we ask you to please carefully check your schedule, plan ahead, and call us as soon as you know an appointment won’t work for you.
For our psychiatry area that is often booked far in advance and in high demand, we ask that you call 24 hours in advance to avoid this charge. For all other areas in the clinic, please call and leave us a message before 8 AM on the day of the appointment to avoid being charged.

Things to keep in mind when scheduling appointments
- Arrive early. Arrive for your appointment 15 minutes early to be sure you can get checked in and complete any required information before your scheduled appointment.
- Be as clear and specific as you can when you call scheduling - the more specific you can be about your concerns, the better.
- Please do not schedule an appointment within an hour of another class, exam or other committment, because appointments may take longer than expected.
- Plan for some time to prepare for your appointment- check out the "Before your Visit" tab on our home page.
