This time of year everyone needs a break from the rigor of classes. Here are some recommendations to help keep you safe as you travel.

  • Accidents are one of the highest causes of injury/death for young people. It sounds obvious, but always wear your seatbelt (even in the backseat), it really does save lives!
  • Insect bites can also be a problem, especially in warm places. Try limiting bug bites, so you can avoid insect related illnesses. Make sure you avoid peak insect hours and wear Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-registered insect repellents
  • If you will be in areas where tick exposure is a concern, consider long clothing in addition to repellent and make sure to do a daily tick check.
  • If you will be in a sunny locale, please don’t forget to use your sunscreen. Continue to make common sense illness prevention choices like good handwashing and being up to date with vaccines.
