We have gotten a few questions from international students and those who've been home and received a COVID-19 vaccine in their home country, regarding the need to re-vaccinate when they get here to the UI.

The CDC recommends COVID-19 booster vaccines for anyone age 16 and over. If you got your second dose of Pfizer or Moderna at least 6 months ago, or a dose of Johnson & Johnson vaccine at least 2 months ago, you SHOULD get a booster shot.

When you schedule an appointment at Student Health that will be a video visit with a provider, our scheduler will send you a MyChart activation link, if you aren't already on MyChart.   Familiarize yourself with MyChart in advance of your appointment if you can.

Worried about your sexual health?  Make an appointment today by calling our schedulers at 319-335-8394.      We offer confidential sexually-transmitted infection screening with our health experts in a quick, friendly and non-judgemental visit.   If you are unsure if you need screening, read the latest CDC recommendations.  

There may be requirements for COVID testing prior to international travel.   Be sure to review information carefully to determine the timing and other specifics of the testing requirements.   Specific requirements have been published for travel to China.

We want you (and others) to stay safe during your travels. Planning for travel is especially important if you are going to be seeing family and friends who might not be vaccinated yet, or are at high risk for COVID-19 complications if they would get infected.
